Youth Ministry

SAF Search and Find is a program that began in Sept. 2007. One Sunday each month (Sep - May excluding Jan), the youth gather @ Riverside UMC and other area churches to socialize, eat, worship, play games, & Praise God. This year we are pleased to be in colaboration with other UMC youth groups from Corinth, High St., College Ave., & Riverside. Each month one of the listed churches will host the event and provide the avenue to develop a closer relationship w/Christ. Youth will search for their own personal understanding of Christ's love for each of them.

Service Projects The youth are stepping out of their comfort zones and reaching out to help the community. This service to our community will help the youth find what it is that the Lord seeks from us all; to help those who do not know Christ and show them thru our service God's abiding love.

Summer activities include Senior High Institute! This past summer several youth attended Sr. High Institute at Epworth Forest and Camp Adventure, and provided an inspiration to others. The fire in their eyes after a week at camp was amazing.

The Gethsemane youth group has used GUMY (Gethsemane United Methodist Youth) as an acronymn for their fellowship with each other, with the church, and with God.

Many youth have black t-shirts with the unique GUMY symbol and the logo "God is Using Me, is he using You?" on the back. These shirts are worn to church, youth functions, to school, and in every day life.
